Our wines
Checo
His hat and the love for his vines were the distinctive signs of grandpa Francesco, locally known as “Checo dei Merli” (blackbird – our family’s nickname). To hime we dedicate our Amarone della Valpolicella, his beloved wine.

WINE MAKING
The lightly overripened grapes are harvested by hand in October. After 90-100 days of “appassimento” (drying of the grapes) the grapes are more concentrated. We press the grapes and we put the pressings into steel tanks where juice ferments with grapes skins for about 30-40 days. During fermentation, the wine and the grapes skins are mixed daily by hand with pump-over into the lap and delastage to get the maximum out of the product.
AGEING
Four to five years in second/third passage small old French oak barrels and in big Slavonian oak barrels.
TASTING NOTES
Deep garnet ruby red colour. Intense, elegant and ample, with prune and cherry in spirit aromas. On the palate it is dry, warm, soft, full bodied. Elegance, persistence and complexity with spieces, pepper, cloves, coffee, cocoa, overripened fruit and balsamic flavours.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Tasty dishes, roasted red meats, roasts, game, stews, mature and strong cheeses. Also excellent afterdinner and as meditation wine. The recommended drinking temperature is between 16°-18°C (60°-65°F).
NOTES
Checo it’s our Amarone. It reflect our personal taste, but it also respect the traditional flavours of Amarone della Valpolicella.
We dedicate our Amarone to our grandfather “nonno” Francesco known as Checo dei Merli. He devoted his life to his vines and wine production. “Nonno Checo” and his teachings are for us a great inspiration.
